I mentioned that my neighbors asked if I could help their church with a mural this weekend in my Thursday Thirteen this week (#9). I worked on it for a good 6 hours today and this is how far I got:

Here’s Bindi’s underpainting. I’ve got a long way to go, these are just the base colors that cover the canvas so I can start building up lighter layers of fur and glossy eyes, and fun stuff like that! I’ve scheduled him out until Friday now, I lost a day yesterday with horrible allergies and couldn’t even see straight to paint. Blech. Today was much more productive, but still it will take a couple more days of layer/dry/layer/dry time to finish up this kitty cat portrait.

Here’s a new kitty commission I sketched out today, his name is Bindi and he’s a beauuuuutiful orange tabby. This one is 12″ x 12″ on canvas panel. I’ll start painting his eyes tomorrow, and maybe (hopefully) get the underpainting done.

Here’s my newest painting, this nice yellow rose (Helmut Schmidt is the official name) is just blooming here at my house. I photographed it yesterday morning and voila, it’s now an original oil painting.
So I have a couple of questions. If this yellow rose (the painting) were yours to give to someone, who would you give it to? If you were the recipient of this yellow rose painting, where would you put it?

This is the last one, and concludes the series of commemorative 4×4 paintings. I’ll scan them and post them all together when they’re all dry.

Another 4×4 (loosely painted), this one is a still life based on a Seraphim Angel in my collection.

Another completed 4×4 patriotic oil painting. Two more to do! Chickeymonkey says I should do the Angel next. One patriotic Angel comin’ up.
